Dr. Seok-Bum Ko, a Senior Member of IEEE, earned his Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from The University of Rhode Island in 2002. With an extensive professional background, he served as a Member of Technical Staff with Korea Telecom Research and Development Group from 1993 to 1998. Currently, he holds the position of Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, SK, Canada.
Dr. Ko’s diverse research interests encompass computer arithmetic, computer architecture, deep learning processor architecture, efficient hardware implementation of compute-intensive applications, and biomedical engineering.Having fostered a successful collaboration with Silicic Innova Technologies over the past decade, Professor Ko has been integral to executing multiple projects focused on Network on Chip and healthcare technologies.
In his role as a VLSI and deep learning specialist, Dr. Ko plays a pivotal role in mentoring the team at the Silicon Craft VLSI training institute. Specifically, he guides the team in course design, ensuring alignment with the latest research innovations and industry trends.
Dr. Ko brings valuable expertise in embedded system design and actively contributes to the implementation of deep learning and machine learning algorithms on FPGA platforms. His leadership significantly contributes to the institute’s dedication to excellence in VLSI education and practical applications.
